MANILA, Philippines — Ortigas & Company, through real estate services firm CB Richard Ellis, recently signed an agreement with Maersk Global Service Centers (Philippines) Inc. (MGSC), for an 8,900-square meter knowledge process outsourcing space in Estancia at Capitol Commons.
MGSC is a Danish business conglomerate that provides offshoring opportunities and solutions to the logistics business of the Maersk Line—one of the world's largest container shipping companies. The new Philippine office will also serve as a Shared Service Center for AP-Moller Maersk Group, to house about 2,700 employees in different time shifts.
“We recognize the continuous need for space by the business and knowledge process outsourcing sector. CBRE, in fact, estimated that about 560,000-square meters (6-million square feet) of office space would be leased in 2014. That includes us,“ says SVP and General Manager for Real Estate Division Joey F. Santos.
“We continue to provide residential options and retail destinations to our consumers, but we are also cognizant of the fact that bolstering our office portfolio will contribute significantly to the company's recurring income,“ adds Santos.
Maersk will occupy the first four floors of Estancia's North Wing or close to half of the 19,000 square meters of KPO space to be built within the development.
Estancia at Capitol Commons
Estancia is the retail component of Capitol Commons—a 10-hectare mixed-used development located in the site of the former Rizal Provincial Capitol—poised to become the center of urban style and a haven with world class dining and destination retailers.
Capitol Commons was opened to the public in late 2013 through the introduction of a small F&B strip called Gastro, having tenants such as Black Olive, Nomama, Tipsy Pig, Starbucks, and more recently, Sentro 1771. It will also have five residential towers, two of which, The Royalton and Imperium, are already at the pre-selling stage. The Royalton had its first concrete pouring last July, commencing the structural works of the tower.
Ortigas & Company is the property developer behind residential spaces such as Valle Verde, Greenmeadows and Greenhills subdivisions. Its commercial spaces include Greenhills Shopping Center and Tiendesitas.
